La confrontation des observations sur let errain aux données du plan cadastral de1809 de la commune de Saint-Laurent de la Prée permet de repérer sept anciennes batteries des XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles protégeant l’arsenal et le port de Rochefort, sur la rive droite de l’embouchure de la Charente.

Thanks to field observation, in comparison with elements provided by the 1809 overall estate-plan of the Saint-Laurent de la Prée township, it has been possible to locate seven dismantled 17th and 18th century battery sites, formerly intended to protect the Rochefort harbour, as well as the Arsenal, on the right-hand bank of the Charente River estuary.
